At its heart, Rankle and Friends is a psychodramatic dark comedy and love letter to puppet shows, plus dementia. The show revolves around a human character, Bob Tard and his puppet "friends" that only exist inside of Bob's fractured and continually deteriorating mind. At the urging of his putrid, puppety pals, Bob is often led into all manner of mischief, depravity, slapschtick, drug-fueled scenarios and criminal activities.
This mayhem is randomly offset by musical sketches and random jokes in styles ranging from Punch and Judy to Jim Henson classics, and on.
